Who we are
In 2011 your neighbors in Mountain View's St. Francis Acres community founded the St Francis Acres Community Emergency Response Team, or SFA CERT. This team exists to help all of us in this community be ready for any emergency.
This site provides information about the SFA CERT, and how you can help prepare your family and your neighborhood for an emergency. Want to help? City of Mountain View CERT Program.
Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) is a program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designed to train volunteers how to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies in their communities as additional support to professional responders in the event of a large scale event, such as an earthquake. The City of Mountain View supports CERT teams in several neighborhoods in the city and provides free training in basic emergency response, light search and rescue, and basic first aid.
The neighborhood teams are supplied with basic essentials to perform these tasks in our neighborhoods in the event of a large-scale emergency, such as an earthquake. CERT team members will survey the neighborhood and report information about damage, hazards, and casualties to the city command center allowing the professional responders to quickly prioritize where to deploy limited resources.
Donations
The Mountain View Saint Francis Acres CERT is funded by City grants and donations, both monetary and in-kind. It is part of Association of Mountain View Neighborhood CERTs (AMVNC) , which is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. If you would like to make a monetary donation to the SFA CERT team, please visit the AMVNC Donations page for instructions. Please make sure your check or other payment method specifies it is for "Saint Francis Acres CERT" or "SFA CERT" so the neighborhood is credited for the donation. If you would like to make an in-kind donation of supplies or equipment, please reach out to the SFA CERT team directly at sfa@amvnc.org.
